Class Descriptions
Restorative
Restorative Yoga is an excellent pathway to quiet the mind and calm the body. With the use of props such as blocks, bolsters, and blankets, restorative postures release tension and encourage surrender into a deeper sense of relaxation and stillness. Restorative yoga classes are perfect for all levels of experience, and stages of flexibility.
Yin
Yin Yoga is a meditative, healing practice using passive, long-held floor poses. The poses are held between 2-5 minutes and the muscles stay passive in order to pass the stress on to the deeper tissues. Each Yin pose is an opportunity to go inward and find an appropriate balance of effort and ease. It is a wonderful complement to an active (Yang) practice and a much needed tool for anyone who needs to unwind a tight body, mind, or heart. Yin is suitable for all levels.
Hatha
Hatha Yoga is the physical practice of yoga. This class will guide you through movement that develops strength, flexibility, and develop the connection between, body, mind & breath. Deepen your understanding of the postures & basic alignment in the body, breathing, and relaxation techniques. Hatha is derived from the Sanskrit ha, meaning "sun" and tha, meaning "moon", uniting and balancing two polar energies. The literal translation of Hatha is "force," alluding to the physical techniques used within this practice.
Gentle
Gentle Yoga is a combination of postures coordinated with the breath, performed at a gentle pace which allows time to be present in each pose. This class provides the opportunity to explore your practice, to find the play between strength and flexibility, stability and ease, and to gain a greater understanding of physical alignment and balance. Gentle yoga is perfect for people who want to try yoga for the first time or for those who are looking for a softer approach to their practice.
Chair
Chair Yoga is one of the most gentle forms of yoga. Students perform postures and breathing exercises using the support of a chair. Benefits include increased strength, mobility, balance, and flexibility, along with improved circulation and cognition. This class is perfect for students recovering from mobility issues, injury or illness, and anyone who wants to experience the many benefits of yoga without having to get up and down from the floor.
Guided Meditation
Based on the ancient teachings of Yoga Nidra, iRest is an evidence-based transformative practice that leads to grounding, deep inner peace and higher levels of awareness through slowing down, connecting to the body and welcoming what is present. Research shows iRest Yoga Nidra meditation practices can reduce muscle tension, high blood pressure, stress, anxiety, depression, digestive disorders, chronic pain and fatigue and promotes resiliency, gratitude, joy and ease of being.
Sound Bath Meditation
Experience a guided meditation practice to rest, restore and relax. Participate in a deeply immersive sound bath meditation and sound therapy session with crystal singing bowls.
